Dean Phillips supporters launch ads attacking Biden’s electability

Supporters of Representative Dean Phillips, a 2020 presidential candidate, have launched a series of ads in which they criticize the electability of former Vice President Joe Biden. The ads accuse Biden of being too old and out of touch with modern Democratic voters. In addition, they point out that his past backing of the Iraq War and the controversial 1994 Crime Bill have made him unpopular with the progressive base of the Democratic Party. In contrast, the ads highlight Phillips’ progressive record as a Democratic House Representative, noting that he has opposed bipartisan spending packages, championed progressive issues such as Medicare for All and the Green New Deal, and rejected corporate PAC money. They also emphasize Phillips’ understanding of how to win elections in swing states, given his 2018 victory in a district President Trump had won two years before.
