F1 Driver Pierre Gasly To Wear Fan Designed, Binance-Inspired Helmet At Abu Dhabi GP

Red Bull Racing-Honda driver Pierre Gasly will wear an exciting fan-designed and Binance-inspired helmet for the season-ending Formula 1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on Sunday.

The French driver unveiled the show-stopping livery in a virtual launch on Tuesday, making him the first driver in Formula 1 history to wear a fan-designed helmet.

The design was created by Maurizio Cattelan, a 26-year-old Italian fan of Gasly’s, as part of Binance’s ‘Design My Helmet’ competition in partnership with Red Bull Racing-Honda and the sports digital platform Motorsport Games.

Maurizio’s design was chosen from more than 5,000 entries, with more than 1.5 million votes from fans all over the world entering the show.

The vibrant orange and red stripes along the helmet celebrate Binance’s mission to bring trust to the blockchain industry, while paying tribute to Gasly’s own racing heritage with a series of nostalgic references.

The unique design also incorporates iconic symbols like the Red Bull Racing-Honda logo, a French flag, and Gasly’son Pierre senior’s helmet.

I’m so proud to be the first F1 driver to ever wear a fan-designed helmet. It’s such an honor to wear a fan’s design – and also this unique color scheme – into the final race of the season,” Gasly said.

“I’d like to thank everyone who participated in the Binance Design My Helmet competition and Maurizio for creating a truly fantastic design. Now we just have to deliver a great result on Sunday!”

The fan-designed helmet will be featured this Sunday on Formula 1’s Brazilian Grand Prix season finale in Abu Dhabi.
