Government shutdown November deadline: What happens to Social Security payments and more

explained

If the government shutdown continues past the November deadline, Social Security payments and other payments from the government may be delayed. This includes payments from programs like Social Security Disability Insurance, Supplemental Security Income, and Veterans Affairs Compensation. Additionally, employees and contractors of the federal government, such as those who work for the USDA, Department of Energy, Department of Education, and more, may not receive paychecks and/or may be subject to furlough (required unpaid leave). It may also affect services provided by the federal government, such as national parks, the DMV, and more.
