As of April 2021, Michigan’s Supreme Court has not ruled on whether President Donald Trump would be allowed to appear on the 2024 primary ballot in the state.
However, Michigan’s Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson announced in May 2021 that she has worked with the state legislature to pass a bipartisan bill that allows candidates who appeared on the previous election ballot, regardless of political party or whether the candidate won the previous election, to appear on future ballot without submitting petition signatures.
The bill was subsequently signed into law. This law would allow President Trump to appear on the 2024 primary ballot without having to submit the required petitions to meet the state’s requirements.
