A privacy advocate recently exposed Ledger Live as tracking user data and network activity without users’ knowledge. While the company claims they collect data only to “improve customer experience and better understand their needs when using our services”, many users feel this is a violation of their privacy. It was discovered that the service records user IP address, device type, browser type, language, regional settings, time zone, metadata, as well as page navigation and transaction data. This data is stored on third-party servers and is shared with other companies related to Ledger, such as wallet makers and cryptocurrency exchanges. The privacy advocate in question points out that Ledger Live fails to explain that it collects this data and does not provide an opt-out in the user agreement. This has led to a lot of scrutiny regarding the company’s commitment to user privacy.
